The Secretariat for Catechetical Formation and Education witnesses to the Gospel through the teaching mission of the Catholic Church.  The office is commited to leading and assisting those who carry out the educational ministries of the Diocese of Cleveland.  Catholic education plays a crucial role in fulfilling the evangelizing, catechizing and teaching mission of the Church. Each year, more than 46,000 students receive a Catholic education in our schools, representing the largest (both public and private) system of schools in the state of Ohio and the fifth largest nationally.

Support of Catholic education ensures that students continue to have the opportunity to:

- Access academic excellence

- Prepare to lead productive lives in our society

- Grow in a life centered on Jesus Christ

- Hear the Gospel message

- Experience the joy of a worshiping community
