People already in great need - those served by Catholic Charities - are at even greater risk during this crisis. Catholic Charities staff and volunteers are on the frontline doing everything they can to protect the homeless, the elderly and disabled, children and families. More people than ever are turning to Catholic Charities:
Catholic Charities food pantries are experiencing a 20% increase in requests.
Requests at the Cosgrove Center for rent assistance have gone from 200 in a month to nearly 500.
There is an immediate need for technology to increase Catholic Charities' capacity for telemedicine and telemeeting.
Even if you don’t itemize your taxes, because of the new stimulus package passed by Congress, all donations to Catholic Charities up to $300 per tax filing unit are tax-deductible.
During this time of crisis and uncertainty, your local parish depends on offertory donations for ongoing expenses. To be of assistance, the Diocese has also set up a Universal Offertory Fund for any Diocese of Cleveland parish. All monies will be directed to the parish of your choice.
Please know that some parishes in the Diocese already have an online giving program. While your gift will be passed through to your parish, we encourage you to visit your own parish website if your parish does participate in an online giving program.
Please consider giving an amount that is equal to or exceeds your monthly offertory contributions. Your generosity is needed - and appreciated - now more than ever.
