Cleveland, Ohio – October 12, 2016 – This year on November 29, the Catholic Community Foundation of the Diocese of Cleveland will host its inaugural crowdfunding event: #weGiveCatholic (weGiveCatholic.org). This first-ever online day of Catholic Giving in Northeast Ohio will take place on the biggest online Giving Day of the year, #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to raise awareness of participating organizations, encourage philanthropy and celebrate generosity worldwide.
More than 140 schools, parishes, ministries, Catholic Charities sites and programs, and other Catholic nonprofits will be participating in this online fundraising event. During this 24-hour window on November 29, people can visit weGiveCatholic.org and donate to their favorite participating organizations.
Some of the areas notable Catholic organizations are participating, including Catholic Youth Organization (CYO), Society for St. Vincent de Paul, West Side Catholic Center, Camp Christopher, and St. Augustine Health Ministries. John Carroll University, Ursuline College, and Notre Dame College join in with many Catholic elementary and high schools, as well as parishes throughout the eight-county Diocese of Cleveland.
“We believe in the generosity of Catholics throughout the Diocese of Cleveland. The goal of #weGiveCatholic Giving Day is to inspire our Catholic community to come together by leveraging collective support for organizations that shape our souls: our parishes, schools, Catholic Charities and nonprofit organizations,” says Patrick Grace, Executive Director of the Catholic Community Foundation.
Bishop Richard Lennon states, “There are many good things going on in the Diocese that are being done by many faithful people. On November 29, there will be another opportunity for those who want to show their support for the Catholic organizations that touch their heart the most.”
