This year’s #weGiveCatholic participating organizations will have the opportunity to compete for $60,000 in prize funds that have been raised by the Catholic Community Foundation from local sponsors. #weGiveCatholic is Northeast Ohio’s online day of Catholic Giving, which will take place on November 28, known as #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to raise awareness of participating organizations, encourage philanthropy, and celebrate generosity worldwide.
To date, 121 Catholic organizations have registered to participate in the Giving Day and are already making their presence known with donation pages on the #weGiveCatholic crowdfunding website: weGiveCatholic.org. Registration will close on September 30.
During its inaugural year, #weGiveCatholic raised $414,199 in 24 hours for participating Catholic parishes, schools, Catholic Charities sites/programs, and nonprofits. Participating organizations enter into a “friendly” competition to gain the most supporters and win prize money. There are also random prize drawings that occur throughout the day as well as a prize for garnering the largest donation of the day.
Prizes are made possible through the generosity of sponsors that include Kurtz Bros., Inc., Unity Catholic Federal Credit Union, Milano Monuments, and the following individuals: Patrick Auletta, Roger Bobowicz, Rev. William D. Karg, Chet Madej, and Andy Rebholz.
