After several record-setting years, the 2020 Catholic Charities Annual Appeal has set a goal to raise $13.5 million in order to serve people in need throughout Northeast Ohio. “Though We are Many, We Are One In Christ” features “Faces of Hope” and tells the stories of people whose lives have been transformed with the help of Catholic Charities. A new donation platform is now available, inviting individuals to use their cell phones to text “CCHope” to “41444” for a quick and secure donation experience.
“I am a proud bishop because of the work done through Catholic Charities to turn the Gospel into powerful acts of charity and kindness,” says Most Reverend Nelson J. Perez, Bishop of Cleveland. The Bishop expresses his appreciation to donors, priests, and volunteers: “We approach the 2020 Catholic Charities Annual Appeal as a faith-filled community that comes together to build a just and compassionate society. Your gifts touch lives and transform families and individuals. Thank you for sharing in this vision for a better world.”
The Catholic Charities Annual Appeal, which is managed by the Catholic Community Foundation, supports Catholic Charities in Northeast Ohio, one of the region’s most significant health and human service providers. Catholic Charities assists over 400,000 people in need annually throughout the eight-county Catholic Diocese of Cleveland and addresses the region's most pressing social issues, such as homelessness, addiction, families in crisis, and care for the elderly. Last year’s Appeal surpassed its goal, raising more than $14 milllion thanks the generosity of more than 47,000 donors.
The 2020 Catholic Charities Annual Appeal will be introduced in all 187 parishes of the Diocese during the weekend of February 8-9 and will continue through the end of the year. Stories and videos of people whose lives have been transformed through the work of Catholic Charities can be viewed at www.catholiccommunity.org/2020Appeal. In addition to the new text option, donations can be made at www.catholiccommunity.org/Donate or by calling 216-696-6525 x1049.
