Cleveland, Ohio – November 15, 2022 – On Nov. 29, the Catholic Community Foundation of the Diocese of Cleveland will ask people to come together as one community for its annual giving day, #weGiveCatholic, Northeast Ohio’s Online Day of Catholic Giving.
This crowdfunding event takes place each year on Giving Tuesday, a global generosity movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.
For 24 hours, individuals can show their support at www.wegivecatholic.org for over 225 parishes, schools, Catholic Charities sites and programs, and other Catholic nonprofits that serve communities of all faiths, races, and backgrounds throughout Northeast Ohio.
There will be a livestream during the day available at www.wegivecatholic.org to feature impact stories from participating organizations and announce matching gift opportunities.
Last year’s campaign raised a record-breaking $3.19 million for 210 participating organizations thanks to more than 10,000 generous donors.
“Each year, the faithful of the Diocese of Cleveland come together with a spirit of gratitude, generosity, and trust for the Catholic organizations that make a difference in the community,” says Patrick Grace, Executive Director of the Catholic Community Foundation. “We are also grateful for our sponsors who provide matching gifts and prize funds that bring fun and tremendous value to the giving day.”
On Tuesday, Nov. 29, organizations will enter into a friendly competition to gain supporters and pull prizes from the $62,500 prize pool throughout the day.
There are also opportunities for donors to have their #weGiveCatholic donations matched. Nearly $200,000 has already been secured by individual participating organizations for matching funds. The Foundation will roll out a $100,000 matching gift throughout the day to support tuition assistance for students at the 84 registered Catholic high schools and elementary schools. A $20,000 matching gift sponsored by Boyd Watterson will be available to all participating organizations.
The Catholic Community Foundation hopes to build on the momentum of the past six years of Catholic Giving. Since its inception in 2016, #weGiveCatholic has seen an increase in the number of participating organizations, donors, and total amounts raised each year, for a grand total of over $10.4 million raised.
