Diocese of Cleveland Awards More than $2.2 Million in Tuition Assistance to Catholic School Students

Posted October 21, 2016

Cleveland, Ohio – October 21, 2016 - The Catholic Community Foundation of the Diocese of Cleveland has made a distribution in the amount of $2,270,200 to the Office of Catechetical Formation and Education to provide tuition assistance to approximately 2,956 students attending 98 Catholic schools throughout the Diocese. The total distributed represents an increase of $259,550 over tuition assistance distributions in 2015.

The distribution was funded through the Catholic Education Endowment Trust (CEET), proceeds from Rooted in Faith – Forward in Hope campaign, Faith & Values Appeal for Catholic Education, and other fundraising initiatives supported through the generosity of people in the eight-county Diocese of Cleveland (Ashland, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Summit and Wayne).

“The commitment of people in supporting Catholic education, based in Gospel values, is outstanding in Northeast Ohio ,” says Patrick Grace, Executive Director, Catholic Community Foundation. “As the need rises for tuition assistance, we see the faithful respond with generosity, allowing more and more children to benefit from the value of a Catholic education.”

More than 44,000 students are enrolled in 112 Catholic elementary and secondary schools in the Diocese of Cleveland, representing the fifth largest private school system in the United States, and the second largest school system (public or private) in the State of Ohio.
