The storied Alleluia Ball, presented by the Catholic Community Foundation, will return in 2019 with His Eminence, Cardinal Timothy M. Dolan, Archbishop of New York, as the gala’s featured speaker. Cardinal Dolan will address what is expected to be nearly 1,000 people in attendance on October 5, 2019 at the Hilton Downtown Cleveland. The theme of this year’s event, ‘Keeping Dreams Alive,’ refers to the event recipients – Catholic school students who benefit from tuition assistance.
“I am looking forward to joining my friend, Bishop Nelson Perez, and all the wonderful people in the Diocese of Cleveland to celebrate the Alleluia Ball which raises funds for something that is near and dear to my heart – Catholic education. The Gospel values that Catholic education imparts help to form the hearts and minds of young people in a way that is greatly needed in our world today, and gives great hope to the future of our Church,” says Cardinal Dolan.
This Alleluia Ball will benefit students and their families who dream of Catholic education and rely on tuition assistance from the Diocese of Cleveland. Each year the Catholic Community Foundation of the Diocese of Cleveland makes a distribution of approximately $2.3 million to the Office of Catechetical Formation and Education to provide Diocesan Tuition Assistance to 3,000+ students attending Catholic schools throughout the Diocese, while the need continues to increase.
Since its inception, the Alleluia Ball has raised over $7 million to support Catholic schools and families who seek a Catholic education for their children. Bishop Nelson J. Perez, Bishop of Cleveland, states: “The Alleluia Ball has a rich history that invites us to celebrate our Catholic faith and philanthropy. The Ball supports Catholic education, which has always been a great blessing to the Church in Northeast Ohio. Now more than ever, families need access to Catholic education so that children can hear the Christian message and live its values. Your support provides financial resources that directly impact the futures of our students.”
The Chair of the 2019 Alleluia Ball is Lorraine Dodero, who is recognized throughout Northeast Ohio for her community service and philanthropic involvements. Dodero is the founder and current president of the Ohio Chapter of the Patrons of the Arts in the Vatican Museums. She will lead a dedicated group of volunteers to raise funds in order to impact the future of students, their families, and the community.
