Cleveland, Ohio – February 1, 2024 – The 2024 Catholic Charities Appeal has set a goal to raise $15 million in order to serve people in need throughout Northeast Ohio. The theme of “Transformed by Your Love” features stories of people whose lives have been transformed with the help of Catholic Charities.
“God’s love transforms our world. Without God’s love, we are so separated from one another. With God’s love, we begin to understand that we’re brothers and sisters together,” says Most Reverend Edward C. Malesic, Bishop of Cleveland. The Bishop expresses his appreciation to donors, priests, and volunteers: “ Your contributions make a difference in the lives of so many people who need our help. By sharing your faith and generosity, you can bring peace to people and help to transform their lives to the wholeness that God wants for all of us. Thank you for considering this great gift that the Lord is asking of us … to do good for others.”
The Catholic Charities Appeal, which is managed by the Catholic Community Foundation, supports Catholic Charities in Northeast Ohio, one of the region’s most significant health and human service providers. Catholic Charities assists 400,000 people in need annually throughout the eight-county Catholic Diocese of Cleveland by offering more than 150 life-saving programs and services at 60 locations. Catholic Charities addresses the region's most pressing social issues by extending food security, safe shelter, job training, mental health counseling, hospitality and hope.
The 2024 Catholic Charities Appeal will be introduced in all 185 parishes of the diocese during the weekend of February 10-11 and will continue through the end of the year.
