On December 2, the faithful across the region are invited to come together as one community to support the parishes, schools, Catholic Charities sites and programs, and Catholic nonprofits that serve people of all faiths, races, and backgrounds throughout the eight counties of the Diocese of Cleveland. More than 240 organizations will participate in this year’s campaign, sharing stories of hope, faith, and service at www.weGIVECATHOLIC.org.
This year marks a major milestone for the Catholic Community Foundation and the Diocese of Cleveland as #weGIVECATHOLIC celebrates its 10th anniversary. Since its launch in 2016, #weGIVECATHOLIC has inspired increasing participation each year—raising more than $21 million to strengthen Catholic life and ministries across Northeast Ohio. Last year’s campaign raised $4.3 million for 244 participating organizations, thanks to more than 11,000 generous donors.
Bishop Edward C. Malesic invites the faithful to unite once again for this special day of giving:
“Your generosity ensures that Christ’s mission continues here in Northeast Ohio. Please prayerfully consider making a gift online—or by visiting your favorite Catholic organization. This year marks the 10th anniversary of #weGIVECATHOLIC, our annual day of online Catholic giving. Together, over these years, you have helped raise more than $21 million to strengthen the mission of our parishes, schools, ministries, and Catholic nonprofits. What an incredible testament to faith in action!”
On Tuesday, December 2, participating organizations will engage in friendly competition to gain support and earn prizes from a $65,000 prize pool—some through random drawings, and others, including the grand prizes, based on donations.
“The faithful of the Diocese of Cleveland come together every year in a spirit of thankfulness and generosity,” said Patrick Grace, Executive Director of the Catholic Community Foundation. “We are so grateful for all of our donors, as well as our sponsors who provide matching gifts and prize funds that add to the excitement of Giving Day.”
How to Participate: Find and Support Your Favorite Catholic Ministries
Anyone can join the #weGIVECATHOLIC celebration by visiting www.weGIVECATHOLIC.org, where supporters can search for participating organizations by name, region, or ministry type—from parishes and schools to Catholic Charities sites, campus ministries, and other Catholic nonprofits serving communities across Northeast Ohio.
Online gifts made between 12:00 AM on Saturday, November 22, and 11:59 PM on Giving Tuesday, December 2, will count toward each organization’s giving day totals and leaderboards. Supporters may also give offline by sending cash or check donations directly to participating organizations, which can then be added to their #weGIVECATHOLIC campaign results.
There are also opportunities for donors to double their impact through matching gifts. Nearly $450,000 in matching funds has already been secured by individual participating organizations. In addition, the Foundation will offer a $15,000 Boyd Watterson Matching Gift, available to all participating organizations.
