The Catholic Community Foundation is celebrating another record-breaking year for #weGIVECATHOLIC, Northeast Ohio’s online Catholic giving event, held annually on Giving Tuesday. This year’s 10th anniversary campaign brought in an extraordinary $4,331,382 from 11,279 donors, supporting nearly 240 participating parishes, schools, Catholic Charities sites and programs, and Catholic nonprofits across the eight counties of the Diocese of Cleveland.
Despite winter weather that closed many schools across Northeast Ohio, participants quickly adapted—turning to creative social media efforts to rally supporters and share the mission and impact of their ministries.
Top-Performing Organizations
This year’s highest-raising organization was Assumption Church & Academy, which brought in more than $520,000. Close behind was Light of Hearts Villa, raising $418,000 to support their senior care ministry.
Several organizations surpassed the $100,000 milestone, including:
- Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine, Euclid
- St. Vincent–St. Mary High School, Akron
- Holy Rosary Church, Cleveland
- Villa Angela–St. Joseph High School, Cleveland
- St. Hilary School, Fairlawn
- St. Francis Xavier School, Medina
- St. James Parish, Lakewood
These achievements highlight the deep commitment and generosity of the Catholic community throughout the region.
Message from Bishop Edward C. Malesic
In his Giving Tuesday thank-you message, Bishop Malesic expressed gratitude for the faithful’s participation:
“Thank you for your generosity during #weGIVECATHOLIC. Your kindness is a beautiful witness of faith, and it strengthens the life of our parishes, schools, ministries, and Catholic nonprofits throughout Northeast Ohio. As we continue through this holy season of Advent, may your heart be filled with the peace and joy that come from keeping Christ at the center of your days. Your gift is a reflection of God’s love—and a reminder that, together, we are building up His Kingdom right here in our community”
A Decade of Generosity
Building on a decade of growing generosity, this year’s giving day continued the tradition of faithful support and spirited engagement, boosted by a $62,000 prize pool that encouraged friendly competition among organizations. Since its inception in 2016, #weGIVECATHOLIC has raised more than $25 million to strengthen Catholic ministries across Northeast Ohio—making it the largest Catholic diocesan giving event in the United States.
“We are deeply grateful for the generosity shown by thousands of donors who stepped forward to support this important day,” said Patrick Grace, Executive Director of the Catholic Community Foundation. “This year’s tenth anniversary results reaffirm the power of our Catholic community coming together in faith to support the mission of our parishes, schools, and ministries.”
Please save the date for next year’s #weGIVECATHOLIC: Tuesday, December 1, 2026.
