After losing her husband of 50 years, Rosemary found herself facing a future she never expected. A retired nurse and devoted mother of four, she had spent her life caring for others—never imagining she would one day need help herself. With income suddenly reduced and everyday expenses rising, even something as basic as buying groceries became a source of worry.
Walking into the food pantry at St. Gabriel Parish was not easy. Asking for help rarely is. But what Rosemary encountered there changed everything. She was welcomed with kindness, offered fresh, healthy food, and—most importantly—treated with dignity. In a moment of vulnerability, she felt seen, respected, and loved.
That experience stirred something deep within her. Grateful for the compassion she received, Rosemary felt called to give back. Today, she volunteers at the very pantry that once supported her, greeting others with the same warmth and reassurance she was shown. Through Catholic Charities, Rosemary discovered that even in loss, God was still at work—turning hardship into purpose and reminding her that love, when shared, multiplies.
