Donating appreciated stock or mutual funds may provide greater tax benefits than cash. You may reduce or eliminate capital gains tax while supporting the Church.

To transfer shares from a personal brokerage account to the account of the Catholic Community Foundation – Called to Flourish campaign, convey the following information to your broker:

A Donor Advised Fund provides a simple and flexible way to support your parish or other ministries. You receive immediate tax benefits and can recommend grants now and in the future.

1. Contact your fund administrator to request a distribution or access the distribution form on your administrator’s website.

2. Complete your distribution form using our legal name and federal tax ID:

Instructions

1. Contact your IRA administrator to request the distribution and provide the following instructions:

2. Please ensure your name and address are included with the distribution (for example, on the check stub, accompanying letter, or electronic remittance).

3. The distribution must be made payable to the Catholic Community Foundation and sent directly to the address listed above. The funds may not be distributed to you first.

Additional Information

• You must be age 70½ or older at the time of distribution and hold a traditional IRA.
• The distribution must be completed by December 31 to count toward your RMD for that tax year.
• Your QCD may be applied toward fulfillment of your Called to Flourish campaign pledge, if applicable.
• Qualified Charitable Distributions are limited to the IRS-established annual maximum per individual, which is indexed for inflation (for example, $111,000 for 2026).

Bequest in a Will or Trust: A bequest is a straightforward way to create a legacy of faith. With your attorney’s help, you may designate a specific amount, asset, or percentage of your estate to the Church.

Beneficiary Designation: You can name the Church as a beneficiary of your IRA, 401(k), or life insurance policy. This is an easy way to make a significant gift without affecting your current finances.

Payable on Death (POD) Accounts: A POD designation on a bank account or certificate of deposit allows assets to transfer directly to the Church, bypassing probate.

Gift of Real Estate: Some donors wish to include real estate in their charitable plans. We encourage you to instruct your executor or trustee to sell the property and gift the proceeds to the Church, simplifying the process while creating lasting impact.

Start a Named Fund: With a minimum of $10,000, you can establish a named fund to benefit your parish or another ministry—passing on your faith and values to future generations.
