Catholic Charities Migration and Refugee Services is one of approximately 100 affiliates of the United States Catholic Conference of Bishops, which has a cooperative agreement with the United States to resettle refugees who have been legally admitted through the federal Refugee Admissions Program. These individuals have fled their home countries in fear of persecution because of their ethnicity, nationality, social group, religious affiliation, or political beliefs.
Catholic Charities MRS has been working to help refugees since 1948. MRS serves individuals and families from countries including, but not limited to: Afghanistan, Bhutan, Burma, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Guatemala, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Ukraine.
